Adeline Norheim

Adeline Synneva Norheim, the adoptive daughter of Halvor and Synneva (Bale) Norheim was born January 23, 1941 in Fordville, North Dakota.  She died at the age of 74 years on Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Adeline was reared in the rural Rugby (Tunbridge) home of her parents and graduated from Rugby High School, the class of 1960.  She furthered her education at Minot State College and completed her college education at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota graduating in 1964.  During her younger working years, she worked for Dr. H.H. Vigeland as a dental assistant.  Following her employment with Dr. Vigeland, she stayed home and cared for her ailing Mother until her death in 1986.  After her mother’s death, she worked in Minot as a personal care giver.  She was a very generous person, spending most of her life taking care of others.  A gracious hostess, no visitors left her home with an empty stomach and usually took home food with them.

Her hobby was cooking and baking.  Her lefse was delicious and she sold lefse to customers in four states, not to forget her love for lutefisk, a delicacy she enjoyed anytime she could get her hands on it.  She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and a strong Republican. The accomplishment she was most proud of was taking three trips to Norway.  For 35 years she attended the Norsk Hostfest in Minot yearly.  She was very fond of the barn cats from her childhood days until her illness, taking care of, feeding and making sure they were in a warm place during the winter months.  She was a former member of the Tunbridge Free Lutheran Church and a current member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Rugby.

Survivors include one sister, Eleanor (Randall) Eggen of Fargo; nephew Ron Kvamme of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; nieces, Rosalyn Sourdiff and RoyLene Peterson, both of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; several cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sisters, her parents and Fluffy her favorite cat.

Posted Condolences:

I remember seeing Adeline at Dr Viglands office in her crisp white uniform. She was always so kind and made you feel things would be fine. She always greeted you with a smile on her face.
Barbara E Bercier

We were very sorry to learn that Adeline had passed away. My father enjoyed her many years of work at his office and both my folks in later years always looked forward to both her visits and to the variety of Norwegian treats she would bring.
David Vigeland
