Audrey Lorraine Majala

Audrey Lorraine (Herman) Majala was born on July 11, 1930 to Clarene and Bernice (Thompson) Herman in the rural Upham, North Dakota home of her parents.  She died at the age of 88 years on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

 

Audrey was raised in the rural home of her parents and was educated in a rural school near her home.  Later in life she wanted to get her GED, so in May of 1993, she graduated.  On December 13, 1954, she was united in marriage to Wayne Majala in Duluth, Minnesota.  The couple lived in Minnesota until 1971 and moved to a farmstead in Balta for a brief time, then to Rugby in 1972 before making their home in Towner in 1977.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Towner, its WELCA and quilters, Pioneer Daughters of America, Cenex Harvest States Auxiliary, an accordionist club, a local birthday club, and the Town and Country Homemakers. Audrey worked at the Hub complex and the Heart of America Medical Center for many years  She enjoyed travel, cooking baking, the piano and accordion and was known for her lefsa. She had a very hard time being idle, so she did a lot of volunteer work after retirement.  Audrey moved to the Haaland Estates in 2015 and in August of 2018, she moved to the Heart of America Care Center.

 

Audrey is survived by her children, W. Russell (Barb) Majala of Milwaukee, WI and Kathy (Mike) Axtman of Rugby; grandchildren, Staci (Mike) Ebach of Rugby, Joe (Jessica) Axtman of Balta, James Axtman of Rugby, Jon Majala of Colorado and Jacob Majala of Wisconsin; great grandchildren, Deserea Wurlinger, Cody, Tessa and Camden Ebach and Charlie Axtman; sister, Gloria (Dale) Manning of Badger, Minnesota; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in 1982; a brother, Arlo Herman; a sister Lillian Lundervold and her parents.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3 at Zion Lutheran Church in Towner with burial in the Berwick Community Cemetery, Berwick.  Pastor Linda Wimmer, officiating.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a Prayer service and sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 p.m. all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.  Visitation will continue Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church in Towner.

I admired Audrey. She was an asset to any project with which she helped. I really appreciated some of her Bible study comments as she put her heart into her answers. She had a strong sense of what was right and what was wrong..very moral, kind, wise person. Thanks to God for the time I got to share with her.
