Beulah Belle Herman, the daughter of Charles and Perlinda (Rice) Hussey was born on January 8, 1927 in Fairview, Montana. She died at the age of 91 years on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Beulah was raised in the home of her parents in Fairview until they moved back on a hayrack pulled by horses to Maxbass, where she completed her education. On April 8, 1948 she was united in marriage to Glen Herman. The couple made their home in Upham. She worked at the J.K. Swanson Drug Store for many years and made the best milk shakes and potato salad. She also worked with her sister, Muriel in the Upham Café and delivered meals and mail to those that couldn’t get out of their house. She took over Jacobson’s Dry Good Store. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, sewing and patching clothes for others. She embroidered many dish towels and enjoyed giving them as gifts. Growing a big garden and doing the canning was an enjoyed seasonal pastime. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy that she was very proud of and talked about them and their rodeo achievements often. She very devoted and a lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary, was a poppy chairman for many years. She was an active member of the Senior 55+ Club and a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Upham.
Beulah is survived by her son, Richard (Fran) of Idaho; grandson, Jason (Michelle); granddaughter, Tonya (Eddie) Getten; four great grandchildren, Erick, Riley, Larissa and Anna; two sisters, Lucille Sutter of San Francisco and Myrtle Werle of Seattle; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by, her husband in 1996; daughter-in-law; grandson; sisters, Clara, Rose, Harriet, Muriel, Florence, Laura; a brother, Lloyd and her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Upham with spring burial in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Upham. Pastor Linda Wimmer and Wally Fretland, officiating.
Visitation and Rosary will be held in the church for one hour prior to the time of service. |
