Carol Engebrit

Carol Judith (Engeland) Engebrit, the daughter of Bjarne and Lovilah (Hall) Engeland was born April 2, 1942 in Rugby, North Dakota.  She died at the age of 74 years on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota.

Carol was raised in the rural Barton home of her parents and graduated from Barton High School, the class of 1950.  Following high school, she married and moved to Minot for a short time and then to Wisconsin for a few years before moving to Rugby where she has made her home.  In 1973, she was united in marriage to Orvin Engebrit, they later dissolved their marriage.  A loving companion, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Carol also worked outside the home over the years at Andrews Steak House, Rose’s Café and Crooks Bowling Alley and Lounge.   Carol met her loving and devoted companion, Pete Bachmeier in later years and have been loyal and committed to each other ever since.  She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and its WELCA and the Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by her best friend and companion, Pete Bachmeier, rural Rugby; a son, Ken (Lori) Getzlaff, Mandan; daughters, Kim (Joe) Aho, Stanley; Charlene Axtman, Mandan; Corinna (Bryan) Schultz, Green River, Wyoming; Karol (Alejandro) Gonzalez, Barton and Shannon (Justin) Hanson, Upham; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie (Ed) Walter, Dunseith; Donna Malchow, Las Vegas, Nevada and Sarah Connelly, Rugby; brothers, Larry (Sandy) Engeland, Towner; David (Cindy) Engeland, and Joel (Lana) Engeland, all of Rugby; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 6th at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby with burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday with a prayer service and sharing of memories at 7 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
