Carol Solem

Carol I. Solem- 84 Rugby, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Jan 31st at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND. She was born to John & Amanda (Anderson) Schiele on September 10th, 1933. She was raised and educated in Towner, ND.

Carol was married to Lawrence Grove, raised 4 children in Rugby, ND. Bonnie Tapson, Terry (Connie) Grove of Rugby, Larry Grove of Tucson, AZ, Susan Grove of Tucson, AZ. They later divorced and a several years later Carol remarried Nick Beste. They remained married till his death. Later in life Carol then married Earl Solem.

Carol loved her plants and could often be seen outside tending to them. She also enjoyed baking especially baking for others. She was known for her homemade buns, caramel rolls, and “Carol’s caramels”. Most of all Carol loved spending time with her friends and family, making cookies with her grandkids and especially her foot rubs.

Carol is survived by her sons, Terry (Connie) Grove, Rugby and  Larry Grove, Tucson, AZ; daughter, Susan Grove, Tucson, AZ; a son-in-law, Bob Tapson, Langdon; Grandchildren Tara (Tyler) Schilke of Bismarck, Lyndsey (Mike) Graner of Rugby, Carrie Grove of Bismarck, Channon Tapson of Fargo and Sarah Evenson of Rugby; Great grandchildren, Destani, Jayden, and Summer Duursma; Mckenzie, Elizabeth and Andrew Schilke; Ally and Luke Graner; and Christina Evenson; 3 great, great, grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Bonnie Tapson, brothers Ivan & Kenneth Schiele, Sisters Helen Stucy, Mavis Schiele, Violett Beckett-Gessner and Norma Holmes.

A Memorial prayer service and sharing of memories for friends and family at 2:00 p.m.  Friday, February 9th in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, Rugby.  There will be no reviewal or visitation.
