Christine (Keller) Zacher, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Tuchscherer) Keller was born September 7, 1921 in Devils Lake, North Dakota.  She died at the age of 93 years on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Christine was raised in the homes of her parents in Devils Lake, Tunbridge and Knox, receiving her education in rural schools there.  After her schooling, she helped on the family farm and worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby.  On May 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to Steve Zacher at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Knox.  The couple made their home in Oregon following their marriage where Steve was stationed in the Army.  While in Oregon, Christine worked in a cannery until he was assigned overseas.  She returned home during this time and worked for her father in the cook car.  After Steve’s discharge from the service, the couple moved to a Gronvold farm west of Balta for seven years and then purchased a farm near Silva where they farmed and raised their family.  In 1984, the couple retired from the farm and moved to Rugby.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she was a former member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Fillmore, a current member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and enjoyed baking, long walks, country-western music and taking trips to Branson, Missouri.  Steve died February 27, 2000.  She remained in her home following his death and later moved to the Haaland Manor apartments.

Survivors include two sons, Duane (Barbara) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Ken (Janice) of Hastings, Minnesota; two daughters, Judi (Tony) McCarthy of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri and Marilyn (Marty) Kitzman of Willow City; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Tony of Wolford, Roy (Elizabeth) and Peter (Ruth) all of Belgium, Wisconsin, Mike (Lorraine) of Clackamas, Oregon and John (Nancy) of Hudson, Florida; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter-in-law, Agnes Zacher; 5 sisters, Mary Magdalene, Teresa, Margaret, Bernice and Kathryn; 2 brothers, Walter and Dominic; and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8^th at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.  Father Tom Graner, Celebrant

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a rosary and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., all in the Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby.  There will be no reviewal in the church.
