Darvin James Vaughn, the son of J. Floyd and Ella (Bartz) Vaughn was born April 5, 1921 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 91 years on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Darvin was raised on his parent’s farm in Rolette County and loved farming and working with his father. He met his future wife, Gloria, while he attended his cousin Bernhard Bartzs’ wedding to Laraine Hrycyna, who was Gloria’s sister. He was united in marriage to Gloria Ann Hrycyna on January 6, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The couple had their own farmstead in Rolette County and when times got tough, they decided to move to Milwaukee to find a job. He started working at Square D Company as an Electrical Tester and continued to work there for the next 30 years. He retired in 1979 and moved back to the farm in Rolette County. He enjoyed playing guitar, trap shooting, repairing old radios and televisions, dear hunting, wild fowl hunting and fishing. He sang and played guitar at a radio station in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Darvin is survived by his wife, Gloria of Rugby; daughters, Catherine (John L. Jr.) Koren of Hereford, Arizona and Cheryl (Bruce) Modjeska of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Young and his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4th at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby with private burial services at a later date. Rev. Brenda Burns, Officiate.
Friends may greet the family for one hour prior to the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday. |
