David Maskey

David Michael Maskey, age 41 of Minot, North Dakota and formerly of Rugby was taken from his loving family on Friday, June 21, 2013 in a tragic motor vehicle accident near Stanley, North Dakota.

David was born on August 4, 1971 to Darrell and Naomi (Sollin) Maskey in Rugby and was raised on a farm 4 ½ miles southeast of Rugby.  He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Rugby and received his education in the Rugby schools, graduating from High School in 1989.  During high school, he worked a variety of jobs and for Mastec Trenching for a time after graduation.  Following high school, David enrolled at North Dakota State College of Science at Wahpeton in 1991, graduating in 1993 with a degree in Electrical & Electronics Technologies.  He furthered his education later, to become a journeyman electrician.  David had worked with various electrical companies since graduation, the latest being with Triangle Electric working in Tioga and was a member of the Electrical Union Local 714.  After moving to Minot in 2002, he met the love of his life, Jill, who has been so good to and for him.  They enjoyed and cherished their lives together, taking trips, going to concerts and movies, attending Kole’s hockey games and spending time with family.  He enjoyed music, photography, spending time with & teasing his nephew, Kole and his nieces Sam and Tanecia and was so proud and willing to be a father and grandfather figure to Jill’s children.  David was a timid gentle loving soul and was so considerate and appreciative of everything.  We will all miss him, he was so special.

Those who were privileged to share in his time on earth are his companion and best friend, Jill Harvey of Minot and her children, Brandon, Blake and Brook; granddaughter, Skylee; his mother and step-father, Naomi and Joseph Fritel of Rugby; a sister, Marilyn (Dave Morley) Maskey of Fargo; a brother, Darren of Rugby; nephew, Kole (Caela) of Granville; nieces, Samantha and Tanecia, both of Minot; grandnephew, Korbyn; step brothers, Chuck (Jayme) Fritel of Hazen, Joey (Lanae) Fritel and Ron (Melissa) Fritel, all of Barton; step sister, Susie (Sanders) of Williston and all of their children, Caleb, Ethan, Molly, Natasha, Dustin, Emily, Laura, Johnny, Kari, Alexys, Sammi, Billy & Ashton; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell at the age of 41; his brother, Bryan at the age of 16; a cousin, Amy Jo Sollin at age 22; and grandparents, Olaf & Alma (Jelsing) Sollin and Edward and Edith (Maskey) Seel.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1st at the First Lutheran Church in Rugby with burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.  Pastors Mike Pretzer and Sharon Baker, officiating

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby with a time of prayer and sharing of memories beginning at 7 p.m.

Posted Condolences:

David, You where a joy to work with. I have the most respect for you as an Electrician and as a friend. You made it easy to talk to you, one of the smartest Electricians I've meet, a Leader, Brother, a Friend. I'm still in shock about this but know you are with God, until we meet again, I will always remember you, extremely happy I got to work along side you and meet you! Rest in Peace

Naomi and family, I am so sorry that David has left this earth and is no longer here to be with you. Being welcomed in heaven by all those who have gone ahead is joyous for him but the loss is so heart breaking for those left behind. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I think of you often and the summer days on the farm south of Rugby. Love and prayers.
Lynn (Olson) Johnson
