Edna Mae Buer

Edna Mae (Rosencrans) Buer, the daughter of Alfred “Bud” and Nora (Thomas) Rosencrans was born on September 14, 1934 in Rugby, North Dakota.  She died at the age of 80 years on Saturday, January 31, 2015 of natural causes at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Edna was raised in the rural home of her parents in Denbigh, North Dakota and completed her education in rural country schools.  On January 31, 1968 she was united in marriage to Jennings Buer.  They had two sons, Darin and Daniel.  The family lived on a small farm until they moved to Towner to care for Edna’s mother.  The family later moved back to the farm until Jennings illness made them move back to Towner.  Jennings died on December 4, 1993.  Edna continued to live in Towner until she moved into the Haaland Estates in Rugby.  She enjoyed visiting with her sisters, friends and spending time with tending the miniature horses.  She made great raised doughnuts and baked beans and cooked many great meals for her boys.    She had a unique way of expressing herself with words like “sugar foot” or “bombocity”, which will be long remembered.  Edna always opened her home to those who needed it, whether it be a stray animal or somebody who just needed a place to stay for awhile.

Edna is survived by her sons, Darin Sievert Buer and his fiancé Lori Hale and their son, Jarred Jennings Buer of Towner; Daniel Cole Buer and his wife Charity (Block) of Lansing, KS; Dan’s daughter, Kayla Schwalbe of Knox, Dan and Charity’s children, Ava and Lincoln Buer of Lansing, KS; sisters, Erma (Alvin) Berndt and Jean (Lyle) Carpenter, all of Towner; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Fred, Russell, Alfred K., and Tom Rosencrans; sisters, Alice Rosencrans and Lois Carpenter; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8th, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Towner with spring burial in the Southwest Baptist Cemetery, Berwick.  Pastor Linda Wimmer and Mr. Wally Fretland, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner and visitation will continue on Sunday for one hour prior to the time of services at the church.
