Elizabeth Busch Thompson
September 18, 1921 - February 26, 2013
Elizabeth (Volk) Busch Thompson died peacefully in her sleep at her Surprise, Arizona residence on February 26, 2013, at the age of 91 years. A memorial funeral mass was held March 4, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City West, AZ.
Elizabeth was born in Rugby, North Dakota on September 18th, 1921 to Walter and Elizabeth (Merck) Volk and resided there for 68 years. She was very active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Elizabeth moved to Portland, Oregon in 1989 where she lived for 18 years remaining active in the community bridge club. She spent the last five years in Surprise, Arizona.
Elizabeth is survived by her five children; Joan (John) Elliott, Judy (Claude) Werner, Sheila (Dave) Schall, Doug Busch, and Richard (Jeanette) Busch. She has been blessed with nine grandchildren; Troy (Vickie) Werner, Laura (Marty) McCormick, Lynn (Brad) Blind, Heidi (Ken) Brown, Jeff (Roxanne) Schall, Jerry (Anissa) Schall, Brett Busch, Kara Busch, and Troy Busch. She has also been blessed with eight great grandchildren; Kevin McCormick, Caitlin McCormick, Maureen McCormick, Trent Werner, Trey Werner, Brandon Brown, Danielle Brown, and Felicia Schall. Also surviving are brothers; Lawrence Volk, Casper Volk, Virgil Volk, and Leroy Volk, and sisters; Agnes Kelly, Theresa Paul, and Janice Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Wendel Busch and second husband of 8 years, Jay Thompson; brothers, Ed Volk, Jerome Volk, and Herman Volk; sisters, Marie Hertz and Regina, who died at birth.

The family thanks Hospice of the West and caregivers of Emeritus Memory Care, for the love and care they gave Elizabeth. They truly are Angels from Heaven.
A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Flower Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Father Tom Graner, celebrant.
