Emanuel “Bill” Miller died at the age of 95 years on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.  He was born in the home of his parents, Andrew and Lagetta (Niegel) Miller in Karlsruhe, North Dakota on June 29, 1923.

Bill was reared in the rural Towner home of his parents and received his education in the Copperdahl Hill country school near his home.  Following his schooling, Bill worked on the family farm and for area farmers and ranchers.  He made his home on the Miller family farm and ranch with his parents and later with his brother and his wife, Peter and Marion on the same homestead.  In addition to the farm work, Peter taught him the skills of carpentry and he and Peter did carpentry work in the area.  In his younger years he enjoyed playing pool and pool tournaments, winning a few trophies along the way.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing dice and card games and never missed a 4th of July parade and rodeo.  He was a long-time and faithful member of St. Cecilia’s.

Bill is survived by his sister, Catherine DiMeo of Olympia, Washington; sister-in-law, Marion Miller of Minot; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, Anton and Alfan Miller; sisters, Angie Kuhnhenn, Monica Hooker, Agnes Klemish, Elizabeth Hanretty, Mary Johnson and Sister Anella Miller and his parents.
