William Warren “Duke” Miller, the son of George and Leona (Rham) Miller entered the world on July 10, 1925 in Rugby, North Dakota.  He died at the age of 92 years on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Duke was raised in the Rugby home of his parents and attended Rugby Schools and completed his education at Lincoln High School in Washington State.  Following high school, he was engaged in well drilling until Selective Services called his name and he was inducted into the United States Army on May 12, 1953. Duke served in the support operations in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from active service on March 22, 1955.  After service, he returned to Rugby and did various construction jobs with his Dad and Grandfather, when not busy in that field, he often worked with his cousin, Ham Miller in the excavating business.  Later finding his passion in truck driving, Duke went to work for Fossum Redi Mix, Strata Redi Mix and for Deplazes Redi Mix a cement mixer truck driver until his retirement.

Duke was well known in the Rugby community, always a smile, a cordial greeting and joke or two.  He treasured animals, especially horses and had a talent for making wooden yard silhouettes, many which can be seen around Rugby.  He was a proud family man and cherished time spent with them.

He is survived by sons, Brad of Sarasota, Florida, George of Dunseith, Randy of Minot, Jeff (Karen) and Jason (Rhonda), all of Rugby; grandchildren, Kourtney Sattler, Olivia Miller, Debbie Miller, Aaron Brewer and Trent Brewer; step-children, Steve Tank of Dunseith and Lisa Tank (Kent) Krakowian of Tucson, Arizona; nephews, Jerry (Kathy) Blessum, Rugby and Lanny Blessum, Wisconsin; nieces, Joan (Blessum) Orvik, Bismarck, Judy (Roger) Diesen and Linda Modrow, all of Minnesota and Sandra Jacobson, Balta; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28^th at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby with burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery, Ruby.  Rev. Elaine Sveet, Presider.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
