Herbert Slaubaugh

Herbert Glen “Herb” Slaubaugh, was born July 14, 1938 at Rugby, North Dakota to Elmer and Anna (Graber) Slaubaugh.  He died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the age of 78 years in his Wolford, North Dakota home in the care of his family and hospice.

Herb was raised in the farm home of his parents and received his education in Scotchblock School, rural Wolford.   He then worked on the family farm until he was united in marriage to Dorothy Yoder on July 14, 1959 at the Lakeview Mennonite Church of Wolford, North Dakota. They spent their life farming in the Wolford area as well as raising chickens, pigs, dairy and beef cattle.  Herb was involved with numerous businesses throughout his lifetime.  He was a hard working entrepreneur, and an honest man who opened his home to anyone in need.  He had several hired men over the years whom he treated as part of the family. His greatest love was his family.  Herb took great joy in being surrounded by his grandchildren   Many times when you met him on the road, his pickup would be filled with children and grandchildren who loved being by his side. He was a patient, kind man and never one to complain.  He always had a smile and a laugh to share, a story to tell and a bit of wisdom to pass on.  He was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy, Sons:  Lonnie (Linda) of Leeds; Wilmer (Diane) of Wolford; Rickey (Leann) of Rolette; and Delmer of Milo; a daughter:  Wanita (Alan) Olson of Wolford; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild in progress; a brother Larry (Ellen Mae) of Wolford; many relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by a son Dallas Wayne; 2 grandchildren in infancy and his parents.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 27th at the Lakeview Mennonite Church in rural Wolford with burial in the church cemetery, Pastor Fred Kanagy, officiant.
