Jayne Marie Albrecht

Jayne Marie Albrecht, daughter of Don and Mavis (Moe) Albrecht, was born on September 15, 1959 in Granville, ND, and passed away at the age of 57 on January 25, 2017 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis, following complications during a scheduled surgery.

Jayne was raised alongside her five sisters on the family farm south of Towner, ND. She was considered to have a natural instinct with operating equipment and working with the cattle.

Jayne attended school in Towner and graduated from Towner High School in 1977. Following her graduation, Jayne pursued and received an A.A. degree in Fashion Textiles and Merchandising from North Dakota State University in 1979. After her graduation from NDSU, Jayne managed a retail store in the Kirkwood Mall, Bismarck, ND.

Jayne married Arlen Hjelmstad on August 25, 1978 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner, ND. They have one daughter, Michelle, and two sons, Eric and Chad. Jayne and Arlen made their home in Towner, where she worked for a short time in the lab at the Winger Cheese plant before beginning her career with the McHenry County Farm Service Agency. Jayne was recognized in June 2016 for 30 years of service with the FSA office. She always had a listening ear and took an interest in both the business and personal side of each producer she served during her time at FSA.

She was known for her zest for life, outstanding memory, and attention to detail. She had a great sense of style and sported the perfect accessories. She loved to have a good time, and always wanted others to have one too. Jayne was in the habit of keeping the essentials in her car, so she would always be ready to make a new memory whether it be with family or friends.

Jayne had a love for music and never passed up a good concert. She loved to dance and made sure others joined in the fun. She had a huge heart, a friendly smile, and would do anything for you. She was always willing to listen with care and never passed up the opportunity to a share kind word or gesture.

Her hobbies included golfing, going to the lake, and spending time with her grandkids. Jayne was looking forward to retiring so she would have more time to devote to her family and favorite activities. Her grandkids meant everything to her and she would drop anything to be there for them. Jayne never missed a grandchild’s event, even if that meant taking time off of work or driving across the state. She was also an excellent seamstress, making costumes as well as completing day-to-day mending. Jayne was looking forward to retiring and always said she was going to spend her time doing what she wanted and rocking her grandbabies.

Jayne is survived by her three children, Michelle (Matt) Gross, New Richmond, WI, Eric (Kayla) Hjelmstad, Michigan, ND, and Chad (Erica) Hjelmstad, Towner, ND; grandchildren, Jacob, Braden, Megan, Katelyn, and Lindsey Gross, Ava Hjelmstad, and Allison and Baby Boy Hjelmstad; mother, Mavis Albrecht, Towner, ND; sisters, Susan (Joe) Volk, Rugby, ND, Jill Erickson, Grand Forks, ND, Karen (Rich) Dufault, Greeley, CO, Mary Don (Kristian) Ring, Williston, ND, and Joni (Allan) Bailey, Towner, ND. Jayne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Albrecht.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1st at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Towner with spring burial in the church cemetery.  Father Michael Schommer, Celebrant.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Cecilia Church and for one hour prior to the time of service on Wed in the church.

Rosary & Vigil prayers along with sharing of memories will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the church

Jayne was full of energy. It was fun to visit with her as she always had plans and was full of smiles. She was like a mother to Marie. Both Kobe and Marie scheduled time to visit Jayne when they were in Towner. God's peace to all. In life and in death we belong to the Lord.

Mavis and Family, We are so so saddened to hear of the passing of your dear sweet Jayne! We always so loved visiting with her when our paths crossed. She was a true Gem. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincere Sympathy. Deb and Gerald SEBASTIAN.

My deepest condolences to Jayne's family. She was a wonderful, fun loving person and I was so lucky to meet her at Beginning Experience and be welcomed as a friend  and a tagalong on her and Deb's exploits.  Even though we have not seen each other as often in the last five years every time I saw Jayne whether it be at the store or gas station or wherever - it was as if we just picked up where we left off. My life has been greatly enhanced by knowing and calling Jayne  A great friend.    Prayers are sent to you all in this great loss.   I wish I could be there at the prayer service or the funeral but I have a workshop and will not be able to attend. I am so sorry that trying to get there from Bismarck for one evening makes it a little difficult and I hope you know that I will be there in spirit.
Deepest condolences, Penny

Annette and I are so very sad to hear of Jayne's passing.  We both attended school with Jayne and graduated with her.  Our paths diverged later in life, but we frequently thought of Jayne and her wonderful family.  We never knew Jayne to say a harsh word about anyone.  That is a testament to a good heart. We are so very sorry for your loss, and pray that God will help you find peace.

Dear Mavis and Jaynes Family,
This is very late, but just saw of Jaynes untimely death as I was checking the obits at Anderson Funeral Home.  Pleas accept our sincere sympathy, she was far too young to leave us.  May our Precious Lord be with you all.
