Joseph Peter Bachmeier, the son of Peter and Christine (Marquart) Bachmeier was born October 20, 1925 in rural Orrin, North Dakota home of his parents. He died at the age of 87 years on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.
Joseph was raised on the family farm near Orrin and received his education in a country school near his home. On October 23, 1953 he was united in marriage to Rose Mary Lavinger at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Towner, North Dakota. The couple made their home at the Leach Ranch near Towner where he ranched and farmed. They also raised their five children, Frank, Kathleen, Philip, Christine, and Pauline on the ranch. Rose Mary died on October 27, 1965. Joe moved to Towner in 1977 and worked for 21 years at Winger Cheese until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and other family members and was a member of the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner.
Joseph is survived by his children, Frank of Towner, Kathleen Anderson of Beulah, Philip of Minot, Christine (Ron) Ryan of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Pauline Peterson of Devils Lake; seven grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Chris of Minot, Lawrence of Granville, and Peter (Betty) of Rugby; sisters, Marcella Bachmeier of Burlington, Caroline Schmaltz of Velva, Phyllis Lesmister and Cecilia Carrasquilla both of Renton, Washington, and Christine (LeRoy) Haman of Devils Lake; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson, Keith Bachmeier; brothers, Anton and Matt; a sister Theresa Jones; and his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Towner with burial in the church cemetery. Fr. Michael Schommer, Celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner and will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Thursday.
Rosary & vigil Prayers will begin at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. |
