Joseph Edward “Joe” Hoffert, the son of Richard and Gladys (Steier) Hoffert was born on October 4th, 1956 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 57 years on Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby from injuries suffered from a tree trimming fall at his home.
Joe was raised in the Rugby home of his parents and graduated from Rugby High School, the class of 1975. He completed his education at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, receiving his Associate Degree in auto mechanics. Upon graduation, he returned to Rugby where he took a position with Johnnie’s Motor Sales as an auto technician. On November 5, 1977, he was united in marriage to Kristy Kittilson at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. Following their marriage, the couple made their home and raised their family in Rugby. In 1982, Joe and Kent Christenson formed a partnership, establishing C&H Repairs which he operated until his death. Joe was the embodiment of a true sportsman, who lived, breathed and slept hunting and fishing, was the “Master” of meat smoking and sausage making and enjoyed camping, gardening, being with his grandchildren and family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Kristy; daughter, Kali (Ryan) Muchow of Morehead, Minnesota; sons, Brent (Chantel) of Fargo and Aaron of Rugby; four grandchildren, Treyton and Talyn Hoffert and Eli and Ayden Muchow; his father, Richard (Sheri) of Bismarck; one sister, Deb (Gary) Mundahl of Bismarck; three brothers, Terry (Lyla) of Rugby, Mark (Miranda) of Bismarck and Keith (Stacie) of Mandan; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica Hoffert; and his mother.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Little Flower Catholic Church, Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Fr. Tom Graner, Celebrant.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a time of sharing of memories and prayers at 7 p.m. and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., all in the Anderson Funeral Home of Rugby. There will be no reviewal in the church. |
