Joyce Ann Brandt

Joyce Ann (Fjellanger) Brandt, the daughter of John and Anna (Scheie) Fjellanger was born in the home of her parents in Christenson Township, Pierce County on October 20, 1925.  She died at the age of 91 year on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Augusta Care Center in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Joyce Ann was raised in the home of her parents in Christenson Township and received her education in a rural school near her home.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Bethel Lutheran Church.  Joyce helped her parents on the family farm until September 18, 1949, when she was united in marriage to Melvin Brandt at the Tunbridge Free Lutheran Church Parsonage.  Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Rugby where they raised their family and Melvin worked as a mechanic.  Tragically, Melvin died August 24, 1963 from injuries suffered in a car accident.  Following his death, Joyce Ann and family moved in with her brother Raymond in rural Rugby, making their home there for 5 years.  Later, the family moved back into Rugby.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Joyce Ann worked outside the home for several years once the children had grown up, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rugby at the time of her death.  Joyce Ann enjoyed country-western music, cooking and baking and was well known for her pies.

Joyce Ann is survived by her children, Curtis (Christina) of Easton, Maryland, David (Charlotte) of Mandan, Steven (Diane) of Rugby and Beverly (Harry) Barrett of Cabot, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren, Curt, Chad, Christopher, Christina, John, Jamie, Mandy, Scott, Travis, Patrick, Tyler, Chrissy and Julie; twenty-four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, LeRoy, Vernon, Robert and Raymond; five sisters, Evelyn, Christine, Marie, Lillian, Gladys and Esther; and her parents.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14th at First Lutheran Church in Rugby with spring burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.  Pastor Mike Pretzer, officiating.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of services at the Church.
