Keith "Twid" Hanson

Keith Allan “Twid” Hanson, the son of Howard and Alice (Leach) Hanson was born on October 9, 1957 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  He died at the age of 58 years on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in his home in Rugby, North Dakota.

Keith was raised in the home of his parents along with his older brother, John in Grand Forks.  After the birth of his sister, Karen in 1959, the family moved to Cando, North Dakota.  Keith attended school, was involved in Boy Scouts and played the trumpet though high school.  He was confirmed in the Cando Lutheran Church.  Keith graduated from Cando High School in 1976.  On August 19, 1978 he was united in marriage to Tonnie Swenson.  The couple moved to Wahpeton where he attended to the School of Science.  After his schooling he got a job at Wil-Rich Welding.  Together the couple had two boys, Cory Allan and Joshua John.  Keith worked various jobs that moved his family to Cando, Kalispell, MT and back to Cando to work at Leonardo Pasta Plant.  In June of 1984, they dissolved their marriage.  He moved to California to work as a seismographer detecting for oil, his occupation brought him to many states before returning for good back to North Dakota in 1987.  In 1988, he made his home in Rugby as a seasonal welder and currently was employed with the Lotvedt Construction Company.  He was known as a skilled handyman for many who called on him and was always ready to help.  Twid as he is known also did beautiful wood work and was a fine finisher.  He had a love for his dogs, which he took everywhere with him and fed them like royalty.  He loved hunting, fishing and spent a lot of time doing both with family and friends.  He played on pool leagues and spent time at Lee’s with his friends who became like family.  Twid always had a good story to tell and would make everyone who got the story laugh!  His soft, kind soul will be missed by many.  Bless the memory of Keith Allan “Twid” Hanson.

Keith is survived by his sons, Cory and Josh, both of Bozeman, MT; brother, John Ostby (Renate) of Reynolds; sister, Karen (Lorne) Moffet of Killarney, Manitoba; nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and many great friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

My prayers are with you all, Twid was such a awesome friend, brother, husband, and dad. I was very fortunate to have known him, and his family for lots of years. His humor, smiles and most of all his  laughter will be missed. But will be held in our hearts for ever along with all the crazy stunts he did.
