Kelley C. Hamilton

Kelley Charles Hamilton, the son of Clinton and Doris (Stempson) Hamilton was born on June 23, 1946 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby, North Dakota.  He died at the age of 69 years on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Kelley was reared in the home of his parents in Rugby.  After he completed his education at Rugby High School, he attended NDSCS at Whapeton.  On September 23, 1972 he was united in marriage to Ilene Opstedal.  He adopted Ilene’s three children, Mark, Renee and Rochelle.  Together the couple had 3 more children, Charles, Travis and Julie.  They later dissolved their marriage.  He was briefly married to Gail Lashman.  Kelley farmed and ranched on the family farm his entire life.  He was a member of the Barton Sportsman Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to lunch with his friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Kelley is survived by his children, Mark (Susan) Hamilton of Rugby and their children, Brett, Lindsey and Christopher; Renee (Steve) Lietzke of Dickinson and their children, Matt, Ryan, Trevor, Nick, Nicole and Brooke; Rochelle (Mark) Castor of Fargo and their daughter, Toni; Charles (Rose Quick) Hamilton of Rugby and their children, Jerri, Grace and Andy; Travis (Chantel) Hamilton of Rugby and their children, Jaden, Trista and Tayler; and Julie (Mike Vetsch) Hamilton of Rugby and their son, Preston; sisters, Carol (Bob) Indvik of Bottineau and Jan (Odell Hagel) Hamilton of Bismarck; five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Rugby with burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.  Pastor Mike Pretzer & Pastor Sharon Baker, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby and will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Friday.
