Kelly John Volk

Kelly John Volk, the son of Herman and Magdalena (Jaeger) Volk was born on October 29, 1958 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died suddenly at the age of 58 years on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his home in Williston, North Dakota.

Kelly was raised in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1977. After graduation, he moved to California. He spent most of his adult life in Hemet, California. In recent years, he moved back to North Dakota and worked in Williston. He was a devoted and loving father. He will be remembered most for his big heart and the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and talk for hours!

Kelly is survived by his children, Jessica (Ryan Cook) Werking of Hemet, CA, Ashlynn Volk (fiance Christopher Diaz) of Hemet, CA, Elizabeth “Morgan” Volk of Eureka, CA, Lyndsey Volk of Los Angeles, CA, Kelly Volk of Los Angeles, CA and Kamiron Volk of Hemet, CA; four grandchildren; siblings, Keith Volk, Shirley Lemmex, Karl Volk, Susan Volk, Kim (Karla) Volk, Kurt Volk, his twin Shelly (William) Thoreson and Kerry Volk; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Volk and his parents.

We were so happy when Kelly returned to North Dakota after a long absence. He came back into our lives at a difficult time when my brother, Gary, died and was a ray of sunshine during a sad time. Kelly always kept us laughing and wondering whether what he was telling us was true or whether he was just "giving us the business". We will miss him dearly.

I was at a customer of mine in Williston and there was a new guy that started working there, I think he was there a couple weeks before he asked me where I was from, I said Rugby and he said me too. I would see him a couple times a week where he worked. He had lots of good stories and knew a lot of people. He would tell me what other family members were doing and where they lived. He got to be a very good friend. I will miss him.
