Kenneth Ernest Degenstein

Kenneth Ernest Degenstein, the son of James and Phyliss (Tuchscherer) Degenstein was born on April 9, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois.  He died at the age of 84 years on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the farm he loved so much in Rugby, North Dakota.

Kenneth moved from Chicago to Rugby in 1931 and then to the Barton area in 1935 where the family made their home.  After completing his education he went on to farm with his father and brother.  On February 1959 he was united in marriage to Doreen Knoke.  In 1961 the marriage was dissolved.  He remained living and farming in the Barton/Rugby area until his death.  He was a member of the Rugby Eagles Club the Clarence Larson American Legion for many years.  He loved to hunt and fish with his family and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Pam (Bryan) Gizinski of Neche; grandchildren, Nycole Gizinski of Ketchikan, Alaska and Jeremy Gizinski of Warroad, Minnesota; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Neigum; brother, Leo Degenstein; and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.  Father Tom Graner, Celebrant.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue on Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. all in the Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby.  There will be no reviewal in the church.

Rosary and Vigil Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Kenny. He used to come out to our place hunting on the edge of the badlands. We had many good times.. He will be greatly missed. You're in our thoughts & prayers during this difficult time.
