Kevin Dennis ‘Bo’ Maloney, the son of William ‘Bill’ and Sherri (Hertle) Maloney was born on September 22, 1982 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He died at the age of 32 years on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle/train collision near Ross, North Dakota.
Kevin was raised in the home of his parents and was the 3rd of four boys. He graduated from Chaska High School in 2001 and completed his surveying course work at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He worked for the MN Department of Transportation for several years. He attended his five year high school reunion and reconnected with a friend, Shawna Sterns and they have been each other’s loving partner for 8 years and became husband and wife in 2013. On August 14, 2007, their daughter Mayah was born. Kevin, Shawna, her son Dylen and Mayah were a close, loving family. The family moved to Towner, North Dakota in 2010 when Kevin started working for Houston Engineering. They made their home in Towner and have loved living in the community. He loved his family, friends and his work. He was proud of the family he had made and the life he was creating in North Dakota. He didn’t need much to be happy and was very grateful for all he had. He looked for the good in everyone and the happy in every situation. He lived life with no regrets. At his wedding reception, last year, he shared this Michael Franti quote: “Don’t let mistakes be so monumental, don’t let your love be so confidential, don’t let your mind be so darn judgmental, and please let your heart be more influential. Be thankful for all that the spirit provides and be thankful for all that you see without eyes”.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Shawna of Towner; children, Dylen and Mayah; parents, Bill and Sherri of Chanhassen; brothers, Andrew, Scott (Sara) and Tom (Amy), all of Chanhassen; nephews, Owen and Lucas; nieces, Caitlin and Whitney; grandparents, Clint Hertle of Austin, MN and Marilyn Wilson of Eden Prairie, MN; great grandmother, Evelyn Hertle of Austin, MN; aunts, uncles, cousins; other relatives and many lifetime friends.
Our family would like to thank all of you for the love and support you have shown in the last week. This is truly a very special community, and we are so grateful that Kevin, Shawna, Dylen and Mayah have been a part of it.
