Larry Vig

Larry Dean Vig, the son of Merlin and Mabel (Wicks) Vig was born on August 16, 1963 in Rugby, North Dakota.  He died unexpectedly on Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home in Kenmare, North Dakota.

Larry was reared in the Towner, North Dakota home of his parents and received his education in the Towner Schools.  Following school, he worked a number of years for Winger Cheese in Towner and then moved to Cando and went to work for Leonardo’s Pasta Company.  Here he met Tracy Wright and the couple were later married.  To this union four boys were born.  Larry and Tracy later dissolved their marriage.  Larry headed west to the oil fields and later moved to the Kenmare area where his company was drilling.  Due to debilitating health issues, he had to take disability retirement.  Larry tried to stay busy doing light handyman jobs in the Kenmare area.  When he could, he enjoyed horseback riding and hunting.

Survivors include his four sons, Terry, Gary, Larry Jr. and Joey; his best friend and living companion of 13 years, Becky Sorenson of Kenmare; his parents of Towner; a brother, Jerry (Debbie) Vig of Phoenix, Arizona; a niece, Julie (Terry) Miller of Billings, MT; uncle, Lyle Vig; aunt, Caroline Orstein; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, June 1st in the Marker Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rugby.  Reverend Nathan Steen, Pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, officiated.  Music was provided by his cousin, Vern Larson and his daughter, Mary Ann Wahl.
