Lenore Thelma Wright, the daughter of Rolf and Johanna (Thorvilson) Olson was born on January 20, 1939 in Rugby, North Dakota. She died at the age of 80 years on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Edgewood Vista in Minot, North Dakota.
Lenore was raised in rural Barton until her family moved to the Pleasant Lake area. She attended country schools through the 8th grade and attended Rugby High School, graduating in 1956. Furthering her education, she went to Minot Teachers College and after taught school in rural Rugby and Watford City. She went on to complete her Teaching degree at the University of North Dakota. She taught in Washington, Iowa, Wisconsin and Kentucky. Lenore completed her masters in Lexington, Kentucky. On February 8, 1969, she was united in marriage to Harold Wright in Louisville, Kentucky. The couple made their home in Louisville for 10 years and she taught school. They retired and the couple moved to Campbellsville, Kentucky where they built a home in the country and Lenore substitute taught as needed. In 1994 Harold and Lenore moved to Rugby.
Lenore enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, quilting, sewing and baking. She would volunteer and play the piano at the long term care floor at the hospital in Rugby. She loved to entertain, fix meals and have plenty of goodies for the holidays and family gatherings.
Lenore is survived by her siblings, Carolyn Wright of Burleson, Texas, Ron Olson of Rugby, Jan Bibby of Delaware, Ohio and Kathy (Gil) Beaman of Pleasant Lake; nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband (July 31, 2005) and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Rugby with burial in the East Barton Cemetery, Barton. Pastor Nathan Steen, officiating.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Sunday.
