Leslie Leroy Jones

Leslie Leroy Jones, the son of Earl and K. Aldis (Swearson) Jones was born on March 2, 1946 in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 67 on Monday, August 5, 2013 at his home in Drake, North Dakota.

Leslie was raised in the home of his parents along with two younger brothers in Towner, North Dakota.  He was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church on June 4, 1961 and attended school in Towner until leaving to work in the oilfields.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 20, 1969 and was honorably discharged on January 19, 1976.  He worked many years in different states in oilfields.  He enjoyed hunting, collecting guns, occasional trips to casinos, and staying in touch with people through the computer.

Leslie is survived by his children, Terry (Gail Mahle) Jones of Towner, Nikki (Shawn) Keck of Dickinson, and Kristy (Gerald) Baumgartner of Dickinson; grandchildren, Alexys Jones, Chelsea (Cody) Meyers, Dustin Jones, Kaitlyn Jones, Liam Baumgartner, and Linkoln Baumgartner; step grandchildren, Levi Keck, Shayna Keck, Dual Keck, and Bravin Keck; great grandson, Cash Meyers; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary and Donald and his parents.

              

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 6th at the East Melankton-Icelandic Cemetery, rural Upham.  Mr. Wally Fretland, officiate.  Military honors will be accorded by the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Detail.
