Linda Kaye (Knutson) Marchus, the daughter of Neil & Nellie (Carlile) Knutson was born on July 5, 1947 in Rugby, ND. She died at the age of 66 years on Saturday October 13, 2013 at her home in Knox.
Linda was raised in Rugby where she attended school and later graduated from Rolette, ND. On December 9, 1966 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Marchus in Rugby, ND. They lived for a time in Montana before making their home in Knox, ND and raised their family. Linda worked as a certified nurses aide at the Haaland Home for eighteen years and later retired to take care of her grandchildren, which she took great pride in. Linda enjoyed life and all it had to offer. She knew how to light up a room with her kind words and smile. Linda always like to visit, it didn’t matter if you were a complete stranger, by the time your conversation was over you walked away as friends.
Linda was quite the sports fan, she loved to watch NBA basketball; She followed her grandchildren’s sporting events; she had a special place in her heart for the North Star Bearcats boys basketball team- it started as watching her grandson’s play basketball and continued to follow the team for many years; She enjoyed anything Elvis, she collected all his movies, music and memorabilia. Linda was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and a best friend. She loved her family whole heartedly, and was happiest when all her girls were home.
Linda is survived by her husband Lloyd Marchus and their seven daughters: Lori (Donn) Beck of Cando, ND; Bobbi Jo (Andy) Helgeson of Dickinson, ND; Jill (Toby) Armstrong of Wolford, ND; Tara (Darold) Schmaltz of Rugby, ND; Dawn (Bill) Mahle of Knox, ND; Jodi (Damian) King of Knox, ND; Nicole (Alan) Black of Devils Lake, ND; Her mother Nellie Knutson of Rugby, ND; brothers Larry (Rita) Knutson of Oseo, MN; Carlton (Julie) Knutson of Coral Springs, FL; 24 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Neil Knutson, brother Kevin Knutson, son-in-law Mark Sell, a grandson Dustin Helgeson, an infant son Scott Marchus.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17 at First Lutheran Church, Rugby with burial at 2:30 p.m. in the Knox Lutheran Cemetery, Knox. Pastor Brenda Burns of the Knox Community Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby with a time of prayer and sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 p.m. Reviewal will be for one hour prior to the time of services in the Church on Thursday |
