Lois Henrietta Degner

Lois Henrietta Degner, the daughter of Henry and Cora (Grondahl) Brandt was born on April 26, 1926 in Upham, North Dakota.  She died at the age of 90 years on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, North Dakota.

Lois was raised in Upham, attended school and graduated from Upham.  She attended beauty school in Bismarck where she met Martin Degner who was from Wing, North Dakota.  On December 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to Martin Degner.  Together they raised their three children, Wayland, Mary and Marcia.  Lois worked various jobs but most of all she was a great homemaker who loved to cook and bake.  She also loved to play Bingo and go to the Casino.  She lived in Wing, Towner, Rugby and Bismarck.  Martin died June 26, 1991.  In June 2011, Lois moved to Edgewood Village in Bismarck and as her health was failing she moved into the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison in November 2015.

Lois is survived by her children, Wayland (Nancy) Degner of Menoken, Mary Boehnke (Wes Goodman) of Kramer and Marcia (Ronald) Best of Denbigh; grandchildren, Sutton Best of Denbigh, Ryan (Casey) Best of Montrose, CO, Corey (Jenni) Degner of Council Bluffs, IA, Jon (Kristy) Degner of Lincoln and Sara (Kevin) Leno of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Madison Best, Christopher and Nicholas Best, Grace and Raleigh Degner, Grant and Brody Degner, Brooke and Weston Leno; brothers, Ronald (Diana) Brandt of Upham and Wesley (Dee) Brandt of Granville; sister, Lana (Galen) Best of Towner; sisters-in-law, Bev Brandt of Surrey and Ramona Brandt of Minot; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; son-in-law, Ross Boehnke; brothers, Sherman, Dale and Jerry Brandt; sisters-in-law, Betty, Alvina and Janice; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30th at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Upham with burial in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Upham.  Pastor Linda Wimmer, officiate. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner and will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
