Lucy Lillian Hager, the daughter of Alexander and Barbara (Gaffrey) Hager was born June 16th, 1928 in the rural Berwick, North Dakota home of her parents. She died at the age of 85 years on Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota
Lucy was reared in the home of her parents in rural Berwick and attended a country school near her home, graduating from Towner High School, the class of 1947. She completed her education at the North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, earning her degree in Business. Following college, she made her home in Bismarck, North Dakota and took employment with First National Bank in the accounting department, retiring from there after 34 years of employment. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, Catholic Daughters and St. Alexius Medical Center Auxiliary. Declining in health, Lucy moved to her sister’s home in Towner in late 2011 and later moved to the Haaland Estates in Rugby. She had been a resident at Heart of America Care Center since February of 2013.
She is survived by sisters, Bregetta Jorde of Towner, Dorothy Zentner of Bismarck, Cecilia Smith of Rapid City, South Dakota and Alysce (Graham Oliver of London, England; brothers, Francis (Barbara) Hager of Columbus, Indiana and Joseph (Delores) Hager of Yuma, Arizona; forty nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sr. Mary Anella, Theresa Slyter and Anna Marie Hager; two brothers, Gabriel and Emanuel; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11th at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner with spring burial in the church cemetery. Fr. Michael Schommer, Celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner and for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Rosary & Vigil Prayers will begin at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. |
