Marscida Barbara Bachmeier

Marscida Barbara (Wiest) Bachmeier, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Volk) Wiest was born in the rural Wells County, North Dakota home of her parents on July 8, 1933.  She died at the age of 82 years on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Trinity Homes of Minot, North Dakota.

Marscida was reared in the farm home of her parents in Wells County near Selz and received her education in a country school near her home.  On October 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to August J. Bachmeier at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Selz, North Dakota.  Following their marriage the couple made their home, farmed and started their family in rural Pierce County near Fulda, North Dakota until 1970 when they thought they would give Arizona a try.  In 1971, they moved back to North Dakota and settled in Rugby for a while.  Here she was produce manager for Super Value Grocery Store. The couple then purchased the Pivot Bar in Karlsruhe.  After selling the business, the couple moved to Minot where together they managed the Chateau Apartment complex and later would finish her working years at the Select Inn of Minot. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, travel, cards and family times together.  Marscida was a member of the Catholic Churches and Christian Mothers in the communities where they made their homes.

Marscida is survived by her beloved husband, August of Minot; sons, Richard (Debbie) of Puyallup, WA and Larry of Burlington; daughters, Karen (Duston) Stevens and Shirley (Leroy) Thomas, all of Minot, JoAnn Fries of Oak Point, TX, Lori (Gerard) Thomas of Becker, MN and Carla (Mark) Hubbard of Fargo; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Ziess of Tigard, OR, Lucille (John) Wolfe of Harvey and Lavina (Wendlen) Weniger of Fargo; in-laws, Frank & Theresa Brossart, Emanuel & Dorothy Grad, Stanley Casavant & Maurus & Bernice Bachmeier; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her son David (April 19, 1982); her parents; a sister Frances Wiest, and parents-in-law, Joseph & Katherine (Schmidt) Bachmeier.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 3rd at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.  Fr. Tom Graner, Celebrant and Msgr. Fr. Joseph Senger, Concelebrant.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby with a rosary and vigil prayer service starting at 7 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  There will be no reviewal in the Church.

This news of aunt marscida brings great sadness for us all. My memory of her is she was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. Aunt Marscida was a very kind loving and gentle woman and loved visiting with her. Her hugs were the best!! May she rest in peace and in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. Our prayers are with you uncle August and your family.
