Marion Hauck

Marion (Bachmeier) Hauck passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.  She was born in the rural farm home of her parents, Joseph and Katherine (Schmidt) Bachmeier near Fulda, North Dakota on September 5, 1925.

Marion was raised in the home of her parents and received her education at the German Country School #4 near her home.  On September 30, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clements John “Clem” Hauck at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Fulda.  Following their marriage, the couple lived in Richardton, North Dakota for several years where three of their six children were born.  In 1950, they purchased a farm in Knox, North Dakota, added three more children to their family and farmed.  In 1974, Marion and Clem retired from farming, built a home in Rugby and worked several years at the Merchants Bank and Marion also worked at the Heart of America Medical Center.  She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Marion loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren, enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for her family, loved the holidays and baking the best kuchen and chocolate chip cookies.  She treasured being outdoors taking care of her flowers and garden; and enjoyed fishing, often catching the most…to Clem’s dismay.  Bowling in a ladies and couple’s league were favorite past times.

Surviving her are her six children, Della (Fred) Kraft and Bernie Salz, all of Bismarck, James of Grand Forks, Doug (Shirley) and Jeni (Duane) Heilman, all of Rugby and Al (Mary) of Minot; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren;  four sisters, Margaret Brossart and Theresa (Frank) Brossart, all of Rugby, Dorothy (Emanuel) Grad of Beulah and Rose (Stanley) Cassavant of Rolette; two brothers, August (Marceda) Bachmeier of Minot and Maurus (Bernice) Bachmeier of Phoenix, Arizona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clements on January 11, 2011; three sisters, Katherine Bohl, Phyllis Sattler and Elizabeth Schmaltz; one brother, George Bachmeier; and her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9th at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.  Fr. Tom Graner, Celebrant.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.  There will be no Reviewal in the church.

Rosary & Vigil Prayers will begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
