Marlys Theresa (Wentz) Hinchey, the daughter of Walter V. and Elizabeth (Ganje) Wentz was born on October 21, 1945 in Rugby, North Dakota. She died at the age of 68 years on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota.
Marlys was raised in the rural Rugby home of her parents and graduated from Rugby High School in 1963. She completed her education following high school at Joseff’s School of Hair-styling and Cosmetology in Fargo, which she practiced on and off over the years. She lived and worked in many cities through out the United States, excelling in her culinary skills for many restaurants. In later years, Marlys enjoyed being a cook for many of the hunting lodges in Montana, especially enjoying the Miller Outfitter Ranch in Great Falls. Marlys was a movie buff, trivia player and a loyal CNN listener. For the past 10 years, she has suffered the devastating effects of MS and had made her home at the Manor Care Center in Minot. She dearly loved her poodle, Patches.
She is survived by one brother, Walter “Bob” Wentz of Rugby; three sisters, Rose Hoffert of Rugby, Lorraine (Mike) Keller of Portland, Oregon and Marlene Hines of Seattle, Washington; friend and companion, Roger Cooper of Minot; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Keller and Gladys Rust; and her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 31st at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby with burial in the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery, Rugby. Father Tom Graner, Celebrant.
