I'm sorry to hear about your Mother My condolences Russ

I will always remember Marthas laugh. It makes me giggle inside whenever I think of a time that she and Esther (Tagestad) went into a fit of laughter over something. The rest of us didn't know what was so funny, but we had to laugh at those two...belly-laughing til they were both in tears. And Alf and Farrell just shaking their heads.
She was quite a lady!

My memories of your mom make me smile! She was such a wonderful, caring lady ....always a beautiful smile and jolly laugh. It was such fun to see her and have a little visit when I would see her over the years. What wonderful memories you will have.

Please accept our condolences on the loss of your dear mother, Martha, certainly a strong, Christian woman. I have fond memories as a youth attending NDFU camps and other functions along with the Nelson kids. My parents, Hilton and Caroline of Velva, had a strong friendship with Farrel and Martha. God bless your entire family.

Sorry for your loss. Martha was one of a kind. I worked with Martha in Therapy at Manor Care in Minot many years ago. She touched my heart with her kindness, many of her stories, and all the love she had for her family. Peace be with her.

Very sorry for your loss. Won't be the same without knowing Martha has something to say to keep us going. Will be very lonely. She taught me to drive Julie's blue VW..She said take lunch out to the guys. I said how?? She said the wagon?? I didn't know how to drive a manual at that time but it didn't take me long to learn. May she teach many more how to drive that baby blue.

Although I have lived in Seattle for many years, the LB Larsons (My Mom & Dad) and the Hartvik Nelsons, all of Minot, were neighbors and best friends for many years; Martha was good friends with my older sister, Doris and her husband Vernon Carlson. What good times, good food and fun we all had together! Martha was always telling funny stories, usually about about family or life on the farm; which was much like our own life. I can still hear her infectious laugh which would cause all around her to join in on the fun.
I loved her dearly.

We celebrate Martha's life with you all. What a beautiful lady! I think of all the people she has touched with her love for Our Savior Jesus. Martha taught me in Sunday school when I was young. I remember when I found out she was going to be my teacher and being so excited. Every student knew it was going to be a great year if you got Martha as a teacher. She did not disappoint us and I loved going to Sunday school to hear her stories about the Bible. I especially remember at Christmas when she told her story about the birth of Jesus. My classmates and I gathered around a circle. Martha proceeded to tell the story about the Bethlehem star and how many followed the star to find baby Jesus. It was then she cut an apple in the middle and showed us what the Bethlehem star looked like. Now, if you know Martha she did not send us home without some kind of gift. She baked every student an apple pie to take home. She told us to share the story about the birth of Jesus wit!
h our family ….and yes the apple pie too!
I have been wondering these past few days….what do you suppose her first words were to Jesus when she saw him? Hmmm, maybe thanked Him and started to tell Him a story!
God Bless and may you find comfort in knowing Martha is home with our Jesus.

My thoughts & prayers are with all of you. I have so many fond memories of Martha - going back to childhood with all the Farmers Union events & camps. She had such a distinctive voice and jolly laughter. In the past few years, I got to see her everytime I visited my folks at Edgewood Vista so that was such a gift for me, to catch up with her after so many years. May your wonderful memories sustain you during this time.

Martha lived next to my mom in Edgewood for the few months my mother was there. I always enjoyed my visits with Martha and continued to visit her after my mother's passing. Martha also came to the church services I held at Edgewood. She was such a refreshing gal...and I loved our visits. I wish I had been able to visit her when she left Edgewood. Now I'm so sad I didn't make the trip.
God bless her memory...and all she was to so many! We are blessed to have known her.
