Martin Deibert

Surrounded by family; Martin Frank Deibert, 89 of Towner, entered eternal rest Wednesday January 10, 2018 at his Bismarck home away from home.

Martin was born April 6, 1928, the son of Anton and Theresa (Klein) Deibert on the family farm north of Verendrye, North Dakota, the 6th of 10 children.  (Years later he would learn from his mother he was born April 5th, 1928.  A documentation error recorded his birthday as April 6th, but he chose not to change the date).  He was raised and educated in the Verendrye area, a place very dear to his heart, until moving to Towner with family, where he currently resides.

After a severe winter of 1948 - ‘49 and spring flooding, it was decided to move the family home from the Souris River bank to its current location.  This was completed before his marriage to Margaret Bohl November 12, 1956.  He was a loving husband and together they made their home north of Towner, ranching and milking cows. In 1970, Martin joined the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier.  Only months short of 31 years, Martin retired from the postal service in 2001. He was very active in his church community of St. Cecilia’s; serving as usher, Eucharistic Minister, church council, and Catholic Order of Foresters.  He loved his Catholic Faith and devotion to the daily Rosary. He was also a member of Towner Ranchers Scale Association and Eaton Irrigation District.

Martin was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends or neighbors and was a man of few words, but shared his wisdom when needed.  He was a very patient man and good teacher to many young hired help.  They learned how to drive and operate farm equipment with his guidance.  All while being a loving father and grandfather to his five (5) children and (9) grandchildren.

He is survived by his children; Karen Deibert, Bismarck ND, Gerard (Holly) Deibert, Towner, ND, Renee (Jim) Cudney, Cheyenne, WY, Lorraine Deibert, Nashville, TN, and Bernadette (Justin) Lund, Ross, ND.  Grandchildren:  Antoinette Cudney, Ariana Cudney, Zachary Cudney, Alyssa Cudney, Lorissa Deibert, Bryson Deibert, Ryder Deibert, Prayrie Lund and Dayne Lund.  Also surviving is one (1) brother Andrew, of Minot; other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret (June 3, 1996), parents, brothers; Frank, John, and Joe Deibert, sisters; Elizabeth Dosch, Otilia “Tillie” Haberlock, Katherine Miller, Helen Burckhard, and Mary Bohl.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 15th St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Towner with spring burial in the church cemetery.  Father Michael Schommer, Celebrant

Visitation and Rosary will be held in the church for one hour prior to the time of service with the rosary starting at approximately 11:15 a.m.
