Martin R. Trottier, the son of Fred George Slater and Violet Trottier-Frank was born on July 21, 1946 in Belcourt, North Dakota. He died at the age of 69 years on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Martin was raised by his grandmother, Mary and was the oldest of 8 children. He was united in marriage to Linda Rae Holum on July 26, 1968. The couple made their home in St. John for a number of years until they moved to Rugby. He worked for the Boilermakers Union, Turtle Mountain Manufacturing and Rugby Manufacturing as a welder. He also worked as a roofer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, most of all nature and his family. He loved and adored his wife, Linda.
Martin is survived by his wife; four children, Tina Trottier, Shauna Trottier-Belgarde, Bradley Trottier (Jessica) and Eric Trottier (Rebecca) all of Rugby; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Elaine of Devils Lake, Lloyd of Devils Lake, Evelyn of Minneapolis, Eileen of Cando, Julie of Devils Lake and Della of Coeur d’Alene, ID; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Hal “Poncho”; his parents; and other relatives.
Family and friends may visit from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15th at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.
