Mary Lou Cochran

Mary Lou Cochran, the daughter of Scott and Mary Francis (Sevak) Kifer was born on December 27, 1933 in Marienville, Pennsylvania.  She died at the age of 79 years on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Rugby, North Dakota.

Mary Lou was raised in her parent’s home and completed her education in Pennsylvania. She was united in marriage to Bernard Wray Cochran and to this union four children were born.  She and her family moved to California and spend many years there.  She lived in Rugby for six years and the past two years she resided in Lynden, Washington.  She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who will be missed by all.  Mary Lou was a friend to all who met her.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Brian Cochran of Idaho, Susan Roark of Rugby, Preston Cochran of Bellingham, WA, and Carol Werner of Atwater, CA; grandchildren, Shannon Millican of Bottineau, ND, Nicole Ortega of Merced, CA, Juliann Angel of Chowchilla, CA, Curtis Ortega of Fresno, CA, Josh and Lucas Cochran of Bellingham, WA and Caleb Cochran of Idaho; great grandchildren, Logan and Kaitlyn Millican of Bottineau, ND, Anastaciya, Robert and Destiny Ortega of Merced, CA; half sisters, Verla Minnick and Helen Stone; other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband; brother, Scott Kifer; half sister, Ester Bell Peoples;  her parents, Scott Kifer and Mary Cargo; and step father, Robert Cargo.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Rugby Police Department, Rugby EMT/Ambulance personnel and Anderson Funeral Home, who treated Mary Lou with dignity.

Memorial services and burial will be private at a later date.

Mary Lou was a great friend and a great lady. I'll miss talking to her. We had lots of laughs together, working at the PD and after retiring. I will treasure our friendship. Gone too soon. Goodbye Mary Lou, my dear friend.
