Maureen Odden

Maureen Thora Odden, the daughter of John and Meryla (Smalden) Odden  was born December 30, 1950 in Rugby, North Dakota.  She died at the age of 67 years on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota.

Maureen was raised in the Rugby home of her parents and graduated from High School there, the class of 1968.  She was married in 1969 and later divorced in 1981. To this union a daughter was born.  After her marriage ended, Maureen went back to school earning her Bachelor’s degree in childhood development and education from Minot State College.  Following her graduation, she opened a daycare center in Minot and operated that facility for a number of years.  Following the flood of 2011, which took her house, she moved to Rugby.  Maureen so loved children of all ages, baking for her family, was a wiz with computer games and would “occasionally” make a trip to the casino with friends.  All those who knew and loved her often would tell her how her positive look on life’s challenges and a great sense of humor would just light up the room.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Throw of Rugby; her mother of Garrison;  two brothers, David (Cheryl) Odden of Garrison and Robert Odden of Evanston, Wyoming; a sister-in-law, Jackie Odden of Minot; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Keith Odden.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1st at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby with burial in the Marker Lutheran Cemetery, rural Rugby.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service.
