Norma Elizabeth Schiff

Norma Elizabeth (Austin) Schiff, the daughter of Grenville and Bertha (Warren) Austin was born on December 10, 1919 in Carrington, North Dakota.  She died peacefully in her home, at the age of 95 years on Thursday, March 26, 2015.

Norma was raised in the home of her parents in Carrington and in 1922, the family moved to New Rockford for a brief time until moving to Rugby in 1925.  She started school at Northside School and graduated from Rugby High School in 1937.  On May 27, 1940, she was united in marriage to Mike Schiff at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby.  The couple started farming in Reno Valley, where they raised their four children.  Mike died in 2001.  Norma resided at her home in Rugby until her death.  She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Eagles Auxiliary and the Senior Center.  

Norma is survived by her children, Jeannie (Gene) Ice of Charleston, SC, Michael (Jan) Schiff of Belgnade, MT, Robert Schiff of Rugby and Jerome Schiff of Towner; 9 grandchidren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Williams of Lakewood, CA; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; brothers, Asher, Raleigh, Warren Austin, and Harold Eugene who died in infancy; sisters, Betty Spaulding and Phyllis Sheffield; brothers-in-law, Bill Spaulding, Ray Williams and Ralph Sheffield; sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Austin, Jane Austin and Doris Austin; and her parents.

A private family and relative service will be held at a later date.
