Orline A Badke

Orline Almira (Peterson) Badke, the daughter of Otto and Anna (Fosness) Peterson was born March 26, 1923 on the family farm north of Granville, North Dakota.  She died on January 26, 2013 at the age of 89 years at the St. Andrew’s Health Center in Bottineau, North Dakota.

Orline was raised in the rural Granville home of her parents and attended grade school there.  The family moved to Bantry, North Dakota where she graduated from High School.  She completed her education at Minot State College and then went to work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot.  On June 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Kristin Olafson at Bantry United Methodist Church.  The couple made their home in Granville, and then moved to Towner.  After 1955 they moved to Bantry, and to this union two daughters where born.  Kristin died October 17, 1955.  On October 10, 1958, Orline was united in marriage to Raymond Badke at the Bantry United Methodist Church.  The couple made their home in Bantry from 1958 to 1962 before moving to Upham where Raymond had built them a home.  To this union, two more children were born.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Orline also worked outside the home from 1968 to 1997 at the Towner Tree Nursery.  Raymond died March 1, 2006.  Orline was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bantry until the church closed, she also belonged to Ladies Aid for many years.  She loved planting flowers, gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, looking at photos, dancing and watching Lawrence Welk.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Anyone who knew her will remember her smile.

Orline is survived by her children, Sharon Olafson Carter of Manvel, ND, Janet Olafson (Richard) Akers of Lake Metigoshe, Diane Badke (Tim) Kuhnhenn of Bantry, and Daryl (Eden) Badke of Towner; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister Evanell Taylor of Minot; brothers, Merle (Ethel) Peterson of Norwich, Vernie Peterson of Florida; many nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother Dwain; brother-in-law, Walter Taylor; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Peterson, and Patsy Peterson; and her parents.

Funeral Services will held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 1st at New Hope Lutheran Church in Upham with spring burial in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Upham.  Pastor Linda Wimmer and Mr. Wally Fretland, officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
