Pauline June (Gibbs) Schoenborn, the daughter of Percy and Carrie (Fred) Gibbs was born in the rural McHenry County, North Dakota home of her parents on June 21, 1928. She died at the age of 88 years on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota.
Pauline was reared in the home of her parents and attended a country school near her home, completing her education at Willow City High School, where she graduated. On October 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Schoenborn in Willow City, North Dakota. The couple made their home, farmed, and started their family southwest of Willow City and then operated grocery stores in the communities of Willow City, Cando and Garrison before moving to Towner, North Dakota in 1961. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Pauline also worked outside the home in the grocery stores and later at the Towner Bakery until she retired. Robert died December 13, 1997. Pauline remained in her Towner home following Bob’s death until her death.
Pauline was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Towner and enjoyed visiting with friends, travel to Australia to see son Leonard and family. She loved her family with all her heart and appreciated being able to stay in her own home in her later years with the help of her son, Greg.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard (Gillian) of Rushworth, Victoria, Australia and Gregory of Towner; grandchildren, Melanie Schoenborn and Derryn (Carmen) Schoenborn, all of Melbourne, Australia; great-grandchildren, Kirwan and Llywy “Louie”; sister, Crystal Dolbeare; sister-in-law, Olive Gibbs; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Cecil (Betty) Morris (Delphine), Chester, Mickey, Lois and Jean.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 26th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Towner with spring burial in the Union Cemetery, Towner. Pastor Linda Wimmer and Wally Fretland, officiating.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Thursday. |
