Pearl Ruth (Breslin) Mongeon, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Mae (Connor) Breslin was born along with her twin sister on June 1, 1917 in the home of her parents in Sanish, North Dakota. She died at the age of 95 years on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.
Pearl was raised in the home of her parents in Sanish and graduated from High School there, the class of 1936. She completed her education at Minot State Teachers College, earning her teaching certificate. Following college, she taught in the Verendrye and Maryville Township schools. On June 7, 1943, she was united in marriage to Ernest M. Mongeon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Maryville Township, rural Rolette, North Dakota. The couple made their home in rural Rolette following their marriage, where they farmed and raised their five children. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Pearl was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a current member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rolette. Ernest died in 1970 and shortly after, she moved into Rolette where she lived until 1998 when she moved to the Haaland Home in Rugby. In 2004, needing additional care, Pearl moved to the Heart of America Care Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Willard) Johnson of Grants Pass, Oregon, Connie (Gale) Hamel of Towner and Corinne (Stan) Thompson of Minot; two sons, David (Victoria) of Park River and Daniel (Mary) of Rolette; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Charles and Joseph Breslin; four sisters, her twin, Ruby Kiser, Beulah Lugo, Bertha Belle Johnson and Alice Wallace; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26th at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rolette with spring burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, rural Rolette. Fr. Philip Chacko, Celebrant
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby and for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Rosary & Vigil Prayers will begin at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. |
