Peter Bachmeier

Peter “Pete” Louie Bachmeier, 72, the son of Louis and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Bachmeier was born on October 28, 1945 in Rugby, North Dakota.  He passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, North Dakota from surgical complications

Pete was reared in the rural farm home of his parents and received his education at German #1 and #2 country school and completed his education the Notre Dame Academy in Willow City.  He made his home on the family farm all his life.  Pete started working on the farm and taking various jobs over the years, including driving truck for Minot Sand & Gravel for over 20 years and retired from there.  He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and building a relationship with his best friend and companion of many years, Carol Engebrit and her family.  Her children became his children.

He is survived by his brothers, Nick of Williston, John of California and Joe (Lillian) of Havre, Montana; two sisters, Clara Fixen of Williston and Beatrice (Marlin) Welk of Rugby; a sister-in-law, Bea Bachmeier of Casselton; 26 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  He is also survived by Carol’s family, Kenneth Getzlaff and Charlene Axtman, both of Mandan, Karol Gonzalez of Willow City, Kimberly Aho of Stanley, Corrina Schultz of Green River, Wyoming and Shannon Hanson of Upham and their children.  He was preceded in death by his companion, Carol Engebrit; brother, Vince; sister, Catherine; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann and Fran Bachmeier; brothers-in-law, Alvin Brown and LeRoy Fixen; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 3rd at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby with spring burial in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.  Rev. Father Tom Graner, presider.

A gathering of friends and family for lunch and sharing of memories from 12 Noon until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2nd at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rugby.  All are invited!

Reviewal will be from Noon until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home
