Robert “Bob” E. Johnson was born in 1925 in the farm home of his parents in northeastern Pierce County. A son of Christ K. and Sigrid C. (Johnson) Johnson. He was reared on the family farm and graduated from Rugby High School, the class of 1943. Bob was united in marriage to Ellen Harwood in 1949. The couple made their home in northeastern Pierce County, where they raised their daughter, farmed and Bob did custom hay grinding until 1987, when they retired and moved into Rugby. His favorite pastime was fishing, of which he could never get enough. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, dancing and playing cards. Bob and Ellen traveled many winters to Arizona in their RV. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ellen of Bismarck; daughter, Judy Nabben and husband, Dale of Bismarck; one sister, Esther Persen of Sartell, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, Andy, Frank, Carl, Walter, Donald, Phillip and Kenneth; and his parents and other loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6th at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rugby with burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby. Mr. Wally Fretland, officiating. |
