Rose Elizabeth Hoffert, the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Ganje) Wentz was born on November 25, 1929 in Rugby, North Dakota at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She died at the age of 84 years on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby.
Rose was raised on a rural Fillmore farm and was educated in the Fillmore school system. She married Pius Hoffert and the couple raised their three children on the family farm near Fillmore. She worked at various restaurants in Rugby and in 1985 she purchased and operated her own café “The Coffee Shop”. It was known for it’s pies, pastries and homemade meals. Rose moved to the Haaland Home in August of 2009 and resided at the Heart of America Care Center since June of 2012. She loved her family, friends and truly cherished every moment spent together. Rose was always excited about birthdays, holidays and any celebration.
Rose is survived by her daughter: Karen (Mike) Christenson, Rugby; son Tim (Hana) Hoffert, Fargo: 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren: sisters: Lorraine (Mike) Keller, Portland, OR, Marlene Hines, Ashville, NC; brother: Bob Wentz, Rugby; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by son: Kermit; sisters: Delores Keller, Gladys Rust and Marlys Hinchey; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Fr. Tom Graner, Celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. There will be no Reviewal in the church.
Rosary & Vigil Prayers will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
