Roy A. Pfeifer

Roy August Pfeifer, the son of Frank and Magdalena (Gerein) Pfeifer was born on August 28, 1935 in Rugby, North Dakota.  He died at the age of 80 years on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota.

Roy was raised in his parent's home and attended country school until he started high school at Balta High School and he graduated in 1954.  On June 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to Janice Kremer at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Balta, North Dakota.  Roy took over the family farm in 1960 where the couple started and raised their family.  He also drove school bus for Hartley’s.  He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Balta and served as trustee.  They later became members of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby.  After he retired, he and Janice moved to Rugby.  He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family and had a love of the land and watching the crops grow.

Roy is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Thresa Pfeifer of Devils Lake, Hilda (Greg) Eldevik of Kenmare, Gerold (Leanne) of Rugby, Edwin of Rugby, and Rev. Father Neil of Fargo; grandchildren, Emily (fiancée Jordan Dissette) Pfeifer, Levi, Josh and Mariah Pfeifer; brothers, Francis (Dolores) of Rugby and Art of Rugby; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Anton; sisters, Regardia Schaan and Catherine Pfeifer; sister-in-law, Arlene Pfeifer; brother-in-law, Pius Schaan; and parents-in-law, Joe and Helen Kremer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.  Father Neil Pfeifer, Celebrant.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with a Rosary and Vigil Prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Friday.

I give the family my deepest sympathy I've always enjoyed driving bus with Roy also I enjoyed talking German to him and listening to his deep German voice I wish I could have came and seen him but I had a downfall in my life too I now reside in Moorhead Minnesota at an assisted living home Arbor Park assisted living due to a spinal cord injury which I know he was sad by hearing this I always enjoyed shooting the breeze with him I always learned a few things from him over the years.
