Terry Linstrom

Terry Allen Linstrom (aka Terrance Allen Linstrom) was born in the Kenmare Hospital on July 14, 1936 to Milburne and Alzo (Elven) Linstrom.  He died at the age of 80 years on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Terry and his brother, Bernie were raised, most of their school years, by their aunt and uncle, Stella and Lowell Castleman of Bantry, North Dakota.  Terry received his primary education in the Bantry/Upham schools and some in Portland, Oregon.  He completed his education at Upham High School, graduating the class of 1954.  Following high school, Terry enlisted into the U.S. Navy, serving his tour of duty aboard navy vessels in the Pacific and Japan, developing skills in welding and plumbing.  Upon his honorable discharge, Terry returned to the Bantry area.  On August 16, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Goodman.  The couple purchased a farm south of Bantry where they raised their family, farmed and ranched cattle.  In the 1980’s, Terry started driving semi for various companies, hauling all types of cargo from machinery; grain; pipe; fertilizer and cattle.  Terry retired from the road in 2008.  Two of Terry’s favorite past times were dancing and playing bingo.  There were always bingo dabbers in the vehicles he drove.  He loved to dance to the “old-time” country music.  Due to declining health in his later years, Terry has made his home at the care center.

He is survived by his children, daughter Calise Linstrom of Upham; sons, Bret (Renae) and Brian (Leisa) and Brandon Linstrom, all of Towner; grandchildren, Andy Linstrom, Katie Linstrom and Emilee Linstrom, all of Towner; brothers, Larry Jo (Cookie) Linstrom, Washington and Keith Linstrom of Oregon; sisters, Faye (Harold) Cummins, Julie (Al) Olson and Tonie (Larry Pat) Nelson all of Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and uncle, Stella and Lowell Castleman; two brothers, Michael and Bernie Linstrom; and a nephew, Matthew Linstrom.

Join Terry’s family at A Memorial Service gathering being held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4th at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Towner.
