Theresa Ann (Selensky) Bachmeier, the daughter of Bernhard and Barbara (Hilzendager) Selensky was born on November 6, 1942 in Rugby, North Dakota. She died at the age of 73 years on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Vibra Hospital in Mandan, North Dakota.
Theresa was raised in the rural home of her parents near Orrin, North Dakota. She started her education in a country school near the family farm and competed her education in Rugby when the family moved to a farm northeast of Rugby. After Theresa’s mother died in September of 1962 she along with her sister, Anna Marie “Mary” moved into Rugby to take care of their father. She worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby until she married. On May 6, 1968, Theresa was united in marriage to Casper Bachmeier at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Rugby. Casper worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and Theresa was fortunate to stay home to raise their daughter, Patty. She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, doing embroidery work and collecting cardinal birds. Throughout her life she had always had a cat and loved her cats. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially a proud grandma to her grandson, Mike and later a proud great grandma to her two great grandchildren. Casper died on October 19, 2012. Theresa moved to Bismarck in July of 2014.
Theresa is survived by her daughter, Patty and her husband, Steve Denn of Bismarck; grandson, Mike and his wife, Stephanie of Caronport, SK Canada; great grandchildren, Saralynn and Josiah of Caronport, SK; brothers, Fred, Edward (Elaine) and James (Bernice) all of Rugby; sisters-in-law, Rose Selensky, Marie Selensky both of Rugby, Alice Selensky of Great Falls, MT and Ann Selensky of Fargo; brother-in-law, Edward Heilman of Balta; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Casper; brothers, John, Joseph, Steve and Jacob; sisters, Anna Marie “Mary” Selensky, Katherine (Louie) Grad and Frances Heilman; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8th at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with spring burial in the church cemetery. Father Tom Graner, celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby with a Rosary and vigil prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home. There will be no reviewal at the church. |
