Thomas “Tommy” Moller, 91, of Rugby ND passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Eventide Heartland Care in Devils Lake, ND. Tommy loved life and was very devoted to the Lord, and he left a lasting impression on anyone he met due to his unwavering sense of humor and caring, generous manner.

Tommy was born on June 27, 1927 in York, ND to John and Victoria A. (Redshaw) Moller.  He attended School in York, graduating in 1945 from York High School.  He then joined the United States Air Force and served in Eschborn, Germany as an Air Traffic Controller with the Occupation Forces.  Upon returning home, Tommy attended North Dakota School of Science.   After graduation, he returned to York to help his father in the York Blacksmith Shop.

Over the many years, Tommy was very active in the community by serving on the York City Council, York Lutheran Church and Leeds Lutheran Church boards.  He was a Sunday School Teacher and a Bible Study Leader.  He also served on the Benson county Draft Board and was a member of the York School and City Reunion Boards.   He was also a member of the Leeds Lions Club and served in many different positions. For many years, he volunteered at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, where he was always willing to help the staff and do whatever was needed to brighten a person's day.  For all his tireless volunteer efforts, Tommy was recognized by the Rugby Chamber of Commerce as Volunteer of the Month in 2014

Tommy and Gwen moved to Rugby in 1997 where they resided until Gwen’s death in May of 2013.  Shortly after, Tommy moved into the Haaland Estates in Rugby, ND and later made his home at the Eventide Heartland Care in Devils Lake, ND.

Greg, Peggy, and Tom,

Please accept my deepest condolences! Also, I apologize that I am so late but I just received my copy of the Benson County Farmers Press yesterday.

My memories of coming to the shop as a boy are many.  It was so different than anywhere else.  I can remember your first shop that was just down the street from your home. I also remember your grandfather.

Many blessings to your entire family. Your father had a life well-lived.

Tim Whalen
