Timothy John Bartsch Sr.

Timothy Bartsch Sr., the son of Albert and Barbara (Tuchscherer) Bartsch was born on April 24, 1954 in Rugby, North Dakota.  He died at the age of 63 years on Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 from injuries sustained in a one vehicle accident on highway 2 west of Berthold, North Dakota.

Tim was a lifelong resident of Rugby, graduating from Rugby High School, the class of 1972.  On September 29, 1978, he was united in marriage to Rebecca “Becky” in Rugby.  Together, they built Bartsch Electric and raised their three children.  Tim has a strong dedication to his family, faith and his job.  He was a well-respected business owner.  He was a member of a dedicated group of parents who formed the Rugby Amateur Hockey Association and built the hockey arena in Rugby.  Also, he was a member of the group who started the high school baseball program in Rugby and helped to construct the baseball diamond at the high school.  Through these associations, he had the pleasure to coach many wonderful young men; something Tim loved doing.  Recently Tim decided to give back to the community by serving on the City Council, a new challenge that he appreciated.  He was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church, was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and taught religion classes when his kids were growing up.

Tim was a loving husband, a great father and wonderful grandfather, seizing every opportunity he could to take part in his grandchildren’s lives.  He was there for baseball games, hockey games, plays, birthday parties, the list goes on.  He had a special bond with each of his grandchildren.  More than anything, Tim loved spending time with his family and he will be missed immensely.

Tim is survived by his wife, Rebecca of 38 years; daughter, Stephanie (John) Hoyt, grandchildren, Avery and Evan Hoyt; son, Andrew (Jennifer), grandchildren, Jack and Emily; son, Timothy (Jennifer), grandchildren, Dylan, Brooklyn and Gavin; mother-in-law, Ann Wentz; siblings, Jacquelin Senger, Kenneth, Carol Haegle (Virgil), Albert (Diane), Duane (Cindy), Don (Linda), Deb (Arden) Miller, Barb (Steve) Fritel, Lynda (Pete) Maus and Diane; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Dennis; father-in-law, Al Wentz; nephews, Michael and Matthew Fritel; Godchild, Brent Bartsch and brother-in-law, Richard Senger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery.  Father Tom Graner, Celebrant.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby with a rosary and vigil prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  There will be no reviewal in the church.

My deepest sympathy on your loss.   Tim and his sister Diane grew up in the Bartsch house across the street from my Grandfather, Nicholas Bischoff.  My folks, Theresa and Melford Halvorson were neighbors of Barbara Bartsch for many years.

The Jacobson and Bartsch families literally grew up side by side in Rugby.  I am so thankful for that.  Love to you all and to our friend Becky.  Prayers.
