Zachary Jake Haman

Zachary Jake Haman, the son of Joseph J. “Joe” and Amelia “Amy” (Schmitt) Haman was born on June 25, 1997 in Minot, North Dakota.  He died at the age of 16 years on December 1, 2013 at his home in rural Towner.

Zachary was raised on his parent’s ranch in rural Towner with his older sister Stephanie, big brother Eric and later came his little brother Karson.  He was currently a junior at Towner High School and loved football and helping his team win the region 3 title this year.  He enjoyed his class studies,  FFA, the Minnesota Vikings, his pickup, being with friends and most of all, his cows.  He planned to be a rancher after he finished college.  Zachary had big beautiful brown eyes that went with a huge lovable smile that would melt anyone.  He was so proud to be called an Uncle and Godfather.  Zachary, “Go rest high on that mountain” and know you are dearly loved and missed by everyone.

Zachary is survived by, his parents, Joseph J. “Joe” and Amy Haman of rural Towner; a sister, Stephanie (Andy) Hallof of Rugby; brothers, Eric and Karson, both at home; nephews, Kayden, Ryland & Westyn Hallof of Rugby; Maternal Grandmother, Amelia Schmitt of Towner; Paternal Grandparents, Joe P. and Helen Haman of Towner; his girlfriend, Haley Duchscherer of Drake; many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives; and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, John B. Schmitt; two uncles in infancy; and his great grandparents.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner with burial in the Blumenfeld Cemetery, rural Towner.   Father Michael Schommer, Celebrant. 

Visitation:  from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at St. Cecilia’s Church, Towner.

Vigil prayers and sharing of memories will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday in the church.

Our deepest sympathy to all of you in the loss of Zachary.. Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time in your lives.. It is so hard to loose a child, something no parent should have to go through..We lost our son in a pickup accident in 1982, at the age of 21.. It hasn't been easy but with the help of family & friends, you will make it through to..From what I've heard from the kids in Westhope here, your son was very well liked & very special to all...We have a step-granddaughter & she said Zachary was a very special kid... Please remember this & think of all the good times you had with him...I will keep you in my prayers as a lot of people will...Our love...

My deepest sympathy words are hard to say. The loss of a child is a hard cross to bear. I hope and pray that God with bless and comfort at this most difficult time. Even though I didn't know Zachary I can not think of him & your family without tears in my eyes. I went to school with your sister, Juliana & have know your parents Joe, for many years. Remember all his love & fun times you have share with Zachary.
