Gladys L McGuire

Gladys L. McGuire, the daughter of William and Vera (Korneychux) Bostow was born in Max, North Dakota on April 20, 1920.  She died at the age of 92 years on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Mi Casa Care Center in Mesa, Arizona.

Gladys was raised in the home of her parents and graduated from high school in Max.  She completed her education at Minot State Teacher’s College.  On March 17, 1940, she was united in marriage to Michael John McGuire in Bismarck, North Dakota.  The couple lived in New Rockford before moving to Rugby in 1948.  Mike bought the Ford dealership in Rugby in 1949 and operated it until his death in 1990.  Both Mike and Gladys were avid promoters of Rugby, and hosted many events at the dealership for their employees and also for the community.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Rugby, was an accomplished seamstress, cook and enjoyed gardening and beautiful flowers. 

She leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family, especially of times at the lake. Gladys is survived by her sister Lorraine (Earl) Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters, Maureen (Gary) Browning of Mesa, Arizona and Candy (Harry) Wood of Grand Forks, North Dakota; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; a son, Charles; brothers, Elmer and Larry; and her parents.

Funeral Services held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby with burial in the Persilla Watts Cemetery.  Rev. Don Andrews, officiating.

Visitation one hour prior to the time of services.
